I am a graduate of Janis Bradley’s distinguished Dog Training Internship Academy - a comprehensive program that provided me with a thorough understanding of animal behavior & learning and focused on the use of science-based and humane training techniques to change both a dog's behavior and a dog's underlying emotional state that may be driving undesirable behavior.
I have also been certified by The Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers. CPDT-KA stands for Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed and indicates that a trainer has a minimum of 300 hours of experience; references from a veterinarian, client, and colleague(s); and has passed a comprehensive, psychometrically sound examination testing the dog trainer’s knowledge of learning theory, canine ethology, animal husbandry, classroom management, teaching techniques, and continuing education requirements to maintain certified status.
Since launching The Mindful Pup I continue to expand my skills and knowledge with the best in the field. There is currently an unprecedented amount of scientific research into science based training methods as well as canine cognition and emotion, so I remain committed to continuing my education and professional development with seminars, the latest scientific studies of dog behavior, best practices, training techniques, and more topics aimed at helping you and your dog in the most effective and least intrusive way.

Mickey is a Lakeland Terrier who enjoys long walks on the beach and keeping our backyard free of possum, raccoon, and cats. Mickey is still a puppy but is becoming a delightful, relaxed, and playful boy. Mickey and I continue to learn a great deal from each other - especially how to communicate more effectively.
And just like most dogs, Mickey's abilities are limited only by the time I have to devote to his training and activities. Most recently, Mickey has dabbled in barn hunt trials & lure coursing and looks forward to earning his AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen certificate.
